1. Physical cleaning and rust removal
Before carrying out rust prevention treatment, the rust on the key needs to be removed first. You can use a steel wire ball dipped in water to gently rub the key, or use the nail file on the nail clipper to polish the grooves of the cross shaped key. In addition, the key can be soaked in a mixture of cola and white vinegar for about 2 hours to remove rust.

2. Keep it dry
Avoid humid environments: Try to avoid the key coming into contact with water or damp environments as much as possible. If the key accidentally gets wet, it should be wiped dry immediately with a dry cloth.
Indoor humidity control: Dehumidifiers or air conditioners can be used to control humidity in indoor environments, avoiding metal exposure to excessively high humidity.
3. Surface coating protection
Coating rust inhibitor: Using neutral rust remover such as ENIENTEC0132 super fast neutral rust remover can not only remove rust, but also provide short-term rust prevention protection for 4 weeks.
Paint or coating: Apply a suitable protective coating on a metal surface, such as paint, coating, varnish, etc. These coatings can isolate the metal from contact with external oxygen and water, thereby reducing the possibility of rusting.
4. Regular maintenance
Cleaning and Inspection: Regularly clean metal surfaces to remove attachments and dirt. Gentle cleaning agents and soft cloths can be used for cleaning, avoiding the use of cleaning agents containing corrosive substances.
Repair damaged coating: Regularly inspect and repair the damaged parts of the coating to maintain its protective performance.
5. Chemical treatment
Pickling, electroplating, or phosphating: These methods can remove oxides and dirt from metal surfaces and form a protective chemical film, providing an additional protective layer.
VCI+anti rust film: When using VCI+anti rust film, the released VCI anti rust agent will form a rust and corrosion inhibitor protective layer on the metal surface during use, effectively alleviating metal corrosion.
6. Choose corrosion-resistant materials
Stainless steel material: If possible, choose materials with good corrosion resistance, such as keys made of stainless steel, which can greatly reduce the possibility of rusting.
By using the above methods, it is possible to effectively carry out rust prevention treatment on metal keys and extend their service life.
